Motor City Comicon Review!

Aaaaaand we're back!
Spent the weekend just outside of Detroit for the Motor City Comicon. People say "size doesn't matter" but in this case it does. It was a cute little mini version of what comicons are usually like but none the less we did quite well so a BIG hug and thank you to all the wonderful people that came by to say hi.

Highlights:

- Seeing our friend Tom Dow. He was one of the original "Bobby Chiu's Subway Sketchers" in Toronto before he moved to MI. We miss you Tom!

- Watching the Detroit Tigers game on Saturday night with the locals. Bobby says that it brought back fond memories of our Blue Jays back in the early 90s. I really don't know much about baseball-I'm a soccer fan, but either way, it was a great vibe! Go Tigers Go!

Here's some sketches of the COMICON GIRLS at the convention.

I'm glad to read you guys had a great time in Motown.

A note to Kei To just say that you draw the cutest, most delicious girls (although true) would be to diminish your accomplishments; keen observation, solid draftmanship, and a knack for caricature that's just enviable. Not many 'simple' shapes here but rather lots of intelligent choices and leaps of faith paying off big time. It's nice to see you moving away from the 'all too obvious' solutions and formulas. The sketch on the far right (my right :)) sheer Yumminess!. . .and yet, it all seems so natural and true.

Hey Bobby, the video tutorials are greats! They were really helpful to watch you cg and to hear your thoughts. I'm still trying to absorb everything you taught at Seneca on Friday! It was really meaningful! I took down notes!

The comicon girl sketches from Kei are awesome!

Btw, thanks a lot for the video tutorials. They're extremely informative, inspiring and very much appreciated. I love when talents like yourself are not afraid of sharing some knowledge, and believe me it's not in vain!......but I'm sure you know that;)

Take care,

Hans
