Digital Painting Video from Bobby
Hi everyone!
Here's a new digital painting video I did yesterday. This one is all about having the right belief system, how to sketch fast and responding to an email.
Thanks for listening everyone. I really enjoy making these vids.

Motor City Comicon Review!
Aaaaaand we're back!
Spent the weekend just outside of Detroit for the Motor City Comicon. People say "size doesn't matter" but in this case it does. It was a cute little mini version of what comicons are usually like but none the less we did quite well so a BIG hug and thank you to all the wonderful people that came by to say hi.
Highlights:
- Seeing our friend Tom Dow. He was one of the original "Bobby Chiu's Subway Sketchers" in Toronto before he moved to MI. We miss you Tom!
- Watching the Detroit Tigers game on Saturday night with the locals. Bobby says that it brought back fond memories of our Blue Jays back in the early 90s. I really don't know much about baseball-I'm a soccer fan, but either way, it was a great vibe! Go Tigers Go!
Here's some sketches of the COMICON GIRLS at the convention.

Motor City Comicon this weekend!! and subway sketching is cancelled.
Hey everyone,
We'll be at the Motor City Comicon this weekend. We've never been there before so I hope some of you will come over and say hi!
This also means that we won't be doing subway sketching this Sunday but will resume as usual the next week.
But for now here's some subway sketches from last week.

Pic of the Week: Stay Puff Marshmallow Man
As you might have noticed we've been blogging quite a lot now. Just about every 2 days or so. We plan on making this a regular thing as long as we aren't on one of our comicon trips. Next trip is October 14-15 at the Motor City Comicon.
Introducing the "Pic of the Week"
This is something that we'll be doing on a regular now. You'll find our "pic of the week" on the right side of the blog.
For our first pick of the week we chose the "Stay Puff Marshmallow Man." It's a hand made one of a kind doll by Kei Acedera. He's 100% silk and super soft!

Digital Painting Video Blogging & Alberto Ruiz & Bobby Collabo!
Digital Painting Video: Sketching a geisha in photoshop while talking about my daily exercises to constantly improve. I also talk about finding your natural style of drawing and painting.
Thanks everyone for the great feedback from the first video. I'll be posting a new video every week or two.
Part 1/3
Part 2/3
Part 3/3
Here's an update on the collabo project I'm doing with Alberto Ruiz. The face on Alberto's drawings are VERY well designed. I had to be very careful in how I painted the woman's face. Faces are always a wonderful trademark of an artist so I had to make sure that the essence of his design was translated well in the final painting.
The face isn't finished but I definitely put a good foundation that reflects Alberto's style, so as long as I keep to what I have right now, I think it's going to turn out quite well.

Alberto Ruiz & Bobby Chiu Collabo! Mayan Samurai Woman
Ok here's a project that I've been really excited about. I'm doing a collaboration piece with my new friend Alberto Ruiz.
He's been one of my favorite artists long before I knew him and I have all his books. Check out his blog too --->
His take on the female figure is amazingly unique and original.
A month ago I met Alberto while doing the Toronto Fan Expo Comicon and took the opportunity to invite him to be a guest artist in next Imaginism Book. Due out in early December 2006. Topic is "Ancient Japan Sketches." He liked the opportunity and came up with the idea to do a collaboration with him.
So here is the WIP for this collaboration... stay tuned.
Also if anyone's interested you can check out other Imaginism Books or preorder the "Ancient Japan Sketches" (only preorders will be signed by Kei and I) --->
