Award news and Elephant Boy!

Yippee! CGSociety.org gave me 2nd place in their CGPortfolio poll for most popular online gallery on their site :) Thank you CGTalkers!!

Other news, "On the Hunt" received a CGChoice award.

Here's a little commission I did in France for our hosts. One of our fan favorite prints is Whaleboy. Whaleboy was a painting I did for my buddy Patrick Morgan. It's a character he created with Ed Acosta and Taesoo Kim. Many times people would ask for sketches of Whaleboy as different versions... Tigerboy, Plantboy, Fishboy..etc. Here's one of those sketches. Look out Whaleboy! It's Elephant Boy! lol... sorry Patrick. Gotta give the fans what they want :)

Lifedrawing at Seneca College

Today we went to Seneca College @ York U for lifedrawing. It was so much fun! I've been to lifedrawing pretty frequently recently but mostly just to teach so it was a great change to do some of my own studies. I brought my tablet pc to do some digital painting.
We had a wonderful model named Gay.
Here are some quick studies...

Chicago Wizard World was amazing...

Chicago Wizard World was amazing... Thank you to everyone for a fantastic time!

Kei, T and I had our first piece of real authentic Chicago pie and boy was it AMAZING! No I don't mean some little fruit filled pie like grandma used to make. I'm talking about some thick juicy pizza pie... best I've ever tasted. Big thanks goes out to our buddy Jason Seiler for showing us what real pizza is supposed to taste like.

Besides the amazing food, we had an incredible show. Our Creature Sketches book is officially SOLD OUT! I'm sure going to miss that book.

Also another big thanks goes out to Michael Wright and Quanza (my apologies in advance if I didn't spell that right) for inviting our crew out with them. They showed us a wonderful time!

We had the pleasure of sitting beside Jason Seiler and Stephen Silver during the Chicago Wizard World Comicon. It was caricature heaven. Here's a clip of Seiler drawing a caricature of one of his fans. New podcast coming soon, I promise. As soon as I get a free moment

Here's another link to an amazing mind blowing caricaturist
Joe Bluhm Joe is the author of a fabulous new book called REJECTS. Besides the art, my favorite part about this book is all the writing. It's so interesting to read a glimpse of how it is to be a pro-event caricature artist. He's going to be at TCAF with us this weekend so come on down and show him some love, buy his book and get a caricature!

Lifedrawing at TSA

One of the things I love to do and teach is lifedrawing.

Here's a 15min drawing I did last night at TSA in Toronto.

It was done with a Col-erase pencil. Paper is 9x12inches. Then I dropped it into PS to spice it up a bit but the drawing was unaltered.

Video Podcast about Schoolism.com

Hi everyone,

I've been receiving many questions wanting to know more info about my online classes at Schoolism.com so I figured I'd talk about it in my podcast. If there's any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

This latest sketch was inspired by an old man that I saw on the subway last week.

Drawings, Doodles, Sketches

Here's a page of doodles I did a little while ago. Splashed some tones on there this morning and figured I'd post it. Usually if I have a hard time getting down to work, I'd start sketching mindlessly just to get the juices flowing. Sometimes these doodles go a little overboard and I spend more time then I should on them but hey as long as I had fun right?
